INSTALLING SSL CERTIFICATE ON CISCO WLAN 4400

1. You will receive a file from Comodo that will have three files in it. They are: “The Entity (domain certificate), The Root, and The Intermediate Certificates.” These files will need to be placed in one .pem file.

2. In order to change the .crt file to a .pem file, first Select and open each .crt file in a text editor.

3. Next, start a new blank text editor page.

4. Then, copy and paste the .crt files into the new blank text editor page. Be sure to include the BEGIN CERTIFICATE AND END CERTIFICATE labels on each page in this order for Entity Certificate, Intermediate CA Certificate, and Root CA Certificate.

5. After the files are in the correct order, make sure you save it as “yourdomain.pem.” You can use the tool at this link to determine which certificate is which: https://support.comodo.com/index.php?/comodo/Knowledgebase/Article/View/620/0/

6. Now, you need to combine yourdomain.pem with the private key that you created with your CSR. Then, change the file to a .pem file. This is the last certificate that is referred to as “final.pem.”

7. You will have to select certain options in the SSL application to accomplish this. Once you open SSL, Select pkcs12 and choose the export option in “yourdomain.pem -inkey mykey.pem -out yourdomain.p12 -clcerts.” Then, Open SSL and select “pkcs12 -in yourdomain.p12 -out final-cert.pem -passin pass:check123 -passout.”

TIP: You will be prompted to type in a password for the phrase -passin and-passout.

This password will need to match the cert password that was created on the WLC. Once you establish the “final.pem” you can upload it to the Wireless LAN Controller, and upload it to the WLC as a Vendor device certificate in order to verify.
