Companies that receive phone payments encouraged to adopt PCI compliance solutions

A recent elite.tele.com report highlighted the importance of having a payment card industry compliance solution in place to protect against outside threats.

The news provider said PCI compliance, which is a collaboration among payment providers American Express, Visa and MasterCard, is an obligation that companies are encouraged to adopt when phone payments are part of their business model.

Also, merchants that have a PCI compliance solution in place can develop greater trust with their consumers, avoid credit card fraud and elude fines for noncompliance.

According to a Web Host Industry Review report, LiquidWeb’s Benny Crampton revealed several PCI compliance tips at the recent cPanel Bootcamp in Austin, Texas. Crampton said that organizations should limit their data access by tracking users with certain credentials and establish a written security policy to protect their interests.

"In the data storage department, it’s key that you use secure and clean code when developing," said Web Host Industry Review's Liam Eagle. "You must protect card holder data, which includes anything that is personally identifiable. Encrypt data and send traffic security. Limit what you store."
