Reliable SSL certificates needed for business, study said
With hackers, cybercriminals and other miscreants online trying to obtain information and make their way into other people's networks online, a study by Frost & Sullivan said good SSL certificates are extremely important for business.
"The need for proper and reliable IT security is of paramount importance to any enterprise involved in data transfer," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Richard Martinez Jr. "If implemented and maintained in a consistent and efficient manner, organizations can avoid the headache of an outage due to an expired certificate. An outage can result in the loss of traffic, costing an organization hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars."
Code signing digital certificates and SSL certifiates are imperative for an organization's security, according to the report. The certificates are important due to the level of trust that needs to be built between companies and end users. While certificate management can be daunting, companies need to figure out ways in which they can keep these certificates as safe as possible.
University of Texas' IT Services website said SSL certificates and code signing digital certificates should be used to encrypt emails and files and streamline business processes by letting people sign documents. This will help keep a company safe.
