SSL certificates critical to enterprises today
A new white paper from Symantec says it is imperative for enterprises with a website that sells items to have SSL certificates. With the internet evolving and new scams popping up every day, SSL certificates are a way to protect data that is in transit, according to the white paper.
The white paper said that even though there are some tricky things that businesses need to remember, using best practices to manage SSL certificates can go a long way in reducing the burden on SSL management. The paper said businesses need to look for features in SSL certificates, including easy-to-use interface, ability to automatically scan, and fast alerts and reporting in case of a problem.
"In a multi-certificate, multi-CA enterprise environment, getting a comprehensive view of SSL security is essential," according to the Symantec white paper. "Knowing the status of every certificate across sites and networks can not only help control customer service costs, but also lower the burden of SSL administration, giving busy IT teams more time to concentrate on other business-critical projects."
MSDN Magazine said to be sure and use HTTPS protocol for secure parts of the website once SSL certificates are adopted. This is important for businesses to stay a secure as possible.
