SSL certificates key for eCommerce companies exploring mobile payment options
Mobile payments are emerging as a great option for eCommerce companies, but in order for a company to use these tools they must practice great data security, according to Software Advice's blog. Using SSL certificates, PCI compliance and other ways of authentication to make payments as secure as possible should be regular practiced by businesses that accept mobile payments.
"Applications with PIN passwords will inherently be safer than cards that are stolen and used elsewhere instantly," the website said. "Security technology experts are also researching new ways to increase mobile payment security - such as creating single-use credit card numbers to destroy the value of skimmed virtual wallets."
The website said eCommerce companies that want to bring in a mobile payment solution should have a vision in place to see how it will be implemented. The industry seems to be waiting for someone to take a big step forward, Software Advice said, so companies should keep their eyes open to see what advancements could take place.
A Gartner study shows that worldwide mobile payment users were going to surpass 141.1 million in 2011, so eCommerce companies know there is a market there. It is now just a matter of finding the right IT security to have the solution work.
