Websites should build a global online strategy

Aside from building an eCommerce website with strong data security, including following PCI compliance and creating SSL certificates, digital marketing writer Gerardo Dada said businesses need to build a global online strategy to help businesses grow.

In a post on Business 2 Community, Dada said websites should focus on a single online infrastructure and a global user experience, as building multi-region, multiple content management systems can get overly complex. He also said websites should have a translation strategy, take different cultures into account, and keep an eye on customer data and privacy.

"A basic set of guidelines will define what information should be captured, what are the guidelines for allowing people under age to register and what is considered ‘under age’ in each country, clear policies for handling PII (personally identifiable information) including how it should be stored (a central repository with encryption) and deletion, credit card information handling and PCI compliance, opt-in/opt-out, global unsubscribe and customer preferences," Dada said.

PCI Compliance Guide said websites should have a comprehensive data security system, as high assurance SSL certificates provide a good level of security, but more may be needed for a global business.
