SCL gets PCI DSS level 1 certification
The leading prepaid and foreign exchange point of sale system provider SCL has announced it is now under PCI compliance as it has achieved PCI DSS level 1 certification.
"Security is essential for anyone providing prepaid or travel money related services - they must use a compliant provider now - or else face breaches, fines and loss of reputation," according to Jonathan Turner, SCL director of operations. "SCL has issued more than 30 million prepaid cards on its UltraPoS platform, and handles millions of transactions every year for merchants, acquirers and issuers of all sizes."
Turner said achieving the certification is no easy task, as it involves investment in technology, people and products. However, he said without it companies can no longer get credit card payments, something that is extremely important.
PCI Security Standards' website said in order to get started with PCI DSS certification, businesses must assess their situation, fix vulnerabilities and make regular reports to PCI.
